A lot of new smartphones have been released this year along with the Samsung galaxy S8 and the iPhone 7. The iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy S8 are at the top of the charts but how do they compare with the latest released smartphones?
Today, we are comparing the Samsung Galaxy S8 with the iPhone 7, LG G6, OnePlus 5 and Xperia XZ Premium to see how they fare with each other.
Design
When it comes to design, none of the latest smartphones have held back. The LG G6 is a stunning phone with a screen-dominated design. The iPhone 7 is a beautiful phone that follows the designs of its predecessors with a few tweaks and refinements. With its sleek design and glass loop surface, the Xperia XZ Premium is one of the best looking smartphones today and the OnePlus 5 is a really good-looking phone with full metal unibody and rounded corners.
However, Samsung Galaxy S8 has them all beat with its sleek and gorgeous design. The Infinite display and smooth curves not only adds value to the aesthetics but also makes the phone comfortable to use.
Display
Samsung Galaxy S8 has by far the best display compared to the other smartphones. The phone has a screen of 5.8 inches and a screen-to-body ratio of about 83 percent. It supports 2960 x 1440 display resolution and has aspect ratio of 18:5:9. Furthermore, the phone’s quad HD AMOLED display is HDR compatible which means that the display offers high contrast, brightness, and wide color range that goes above that available from a regular display.
However, that doesn’t mean that the other smartphones are lacking. The Xperia XZ Premium provides a higher display resolution of 3840×2160 and its’ 4K LCD display is also HDR compatible. The LG G6 with a 5.7 inches screen has a screen-to-body ratio of 80 percent and aspect ratio of 18:9. The phone also has quad HD AMOLED display that supports HDR.
Specs and Performance
In this category, the iPhone 7 has the upper hand over the other smartphones. iPhones have always been known for their optimized hardware and software and iPhone 7 is no different. With only 2GB RAM, the A10 Fusion chip, which has been in the top of the benchmarks since its debut last fall, the phone provides performance on par with the high-end android smartphones.
The Samsung Galaxy S8, OnePlus 5 and Xperia XZ Premium use the new Snapdragon 835 chip, which is a strong competitor to the Apple’s A10 Fusion chip. The LG G6 uses the older Snapdragon 821 chip which is not as efficient as the Snapdragon 835 chip.

Even though the iPhone 7 has a 1960mAh battery, it can last about a day thanks to the smaller, lower resolution screen and the optimized operating system whereas the android smartphones have 3000mAh and above batteries.
As for the charge time, the OnePlus 5 charges the fastest thanks to its Dash Charge technology which is capable of charging the phone from 0-60% in just 30 minutes. The other android smartphones also come with fast charging technologies but cannot compare with the OnePlus 5‘s charging speed.
Extra Features
NFC, fingerprint scanners and fast charging technologies are the common extra features in all of the smartphones. In addition to this, the phones also contain USB Type-C port (except for iPhone 7) and the Galaxy S8 and LG G6 offer wireless charging.
The Samsung Galaxy S8, LG G6 and Xperia XZ Premium provide the same IP68 rating for water resistance whereas the iPhone 7 provides the IP67 rating and OnePlus 5 is not water resistant. The LG G6 and Galaxy S8 also offer wireless charging. Along with these features, the Galaxy S8 also offers iris scan and facial recognition. The phone also contains the Samsung Pay and Bixby, Samsung’s own virtual assistant.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S8 has the edge over the other smartphones. With its unique design and integration of latest technologies, the phone has managed to remain at the top of the charts.
